Luke Swantek, Director of Religious Education To hand on the deposit of faith to every child who is entrusted to our care. To bring the children into a personal relationship with God. To help the children to know, love, and serve God, and so to come to eternal happiness. Registration for the 2009-2010 school year has closed. Registration forms and information for the 2010-2011 school year can be obtained at the church rectory, by contacting the Office of Religious Education, or by downloading the forms below. Classes are held in the St. Thomas More school on Wednesday nights from 6:45 to 8:15pm. Beginning September 2010, Levels K, 1, and 2 will be held in the school on Sundays from 10:45am to 12:15pm. Students who complete the Level 1 class will receive the sacraments of Penance and First Communion during the Spring of their Level 2 classes. The sacramental preparation for these sacraments takes place during their regular classes. Students in 7th grade or older who have completed at least one year of CCD at STM previously and have received Baptism, Penance, and First Holy Communion. Classes are on Sundays and are a requirement in addition to Wednesday class level classes. Confirmation preparation begins in the Fall of the first year, and is completed with the Confirmation in the Fall of the second year. Sunday sacramental classes are held on select Sundays from 10:45am to 12:45pm. These classes serve two purposes. For students in levels 3+ who have not yet received Penance and Communion, the classes enable them to receive the sacraments while still being a part of their age-appropriate Wednesday class levels. For students in levels 7+ who wish to receive the sacrament of Confirmation, the Sunday classes are the required Confirmation preparation. We rely on volunteers to be our catechists, teacher’s assistant, hall monitors, greeters, etc. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the Office of Religious Education to find out where we have a need. If you would like to download, print, and fill out registration forms, each Family is asked to fill out one (1) Family Form per family, along with one (1) Student Form and Emergency Form per student. |
