Take time from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season to remember the reason we celebrate. Jesus Christ, incarnate on earth born to share in our joys and sorrows; born to be the salvation of all.
The Cathedral has many opportunities to prepare this Advent
- Daily Mass: 7:00 a.m. & 12:05 p.m. Monday through Friday
- Evening Masses on Mondays and Wednesday (5:15 p.m.)
- Tuesdays in Spanish at 7:00 p.m.
- Saturday at 9:00 a.m.
Confessions:
- Tuesday: 7:30-8:30 p.m. (Spanish)
- Thursday 6:00-7:00 p.m.
- Saturday 3:00-4:00 p.m. (English & Spanish)
Devotionals:
- Rosary every weekday beginning at 11:40 a.m.; every third Saturday following the
9:00 a.m. Mass - Divine Mercy Chaplet following 12:05 p.m. daily Mass
- Adoration is every Thursday from 12:45-7:00 p.m. followed by Evening Prayer and Benediction at 7:00 p.m.
Masses for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception:
Monday, December 8: 7:00 a.m., 12:05 p.m. with Bishop Burbidge; 6:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m. (Spanish)
Note: there is no Vigil Mass on December 7
Advent Morning of Reflection: Saturday, December 6 following the 9:00 a.m. Mass
Join us in Burke Hall for bagels and coffee followed by a presentation by Deacon Silva– Santa: The Man, the Myth, the Saint— as he reveals the history of St Nicholas and his modern-day, red-robed interpretation. Confession by a parish priest is offered afterward, wrapping up around noon.
Registration is not required but helps estimate how many bagels to buy.
Sacred Music for Christmas and Advent: Sunday, December 14 at 3:30 p.m. in the Cathedral
An annual favorite returns! The Cathedral Choir and Youth Choir will present a prayerful concert of Advent and Christmas music from the Middle Ages to the twenty-first century. The audience is also invited to join in singing hymns of joy as we all prepare for the coming of Christ, our Savior.
Los Posadas: from December 15* through December 23 at 7:00 p.m. in Burke Hall
(*December 15 will be at 80 N. Glebe Road, the blue-roofed building next to Dunkin Donuts)
A traditional Mexican religious celebration, Los Posadas commemorates the journey taken by Mary and Joseph before the birth of Jesus.
Our Lady of Guadalupe Procession: Sunday, December 21 at 1:30 p.m.
Extra Confession Time: Monday, December 22 from 6:00 -7:00 p.m.
