Consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus June 11, 2026
May 13, 2026
On June 11, 2026, as part of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. bishops will consecrate the United States of America to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Parishes around the country will join the bishops in celebrating the consecration of our nation to the Sacred Heart.
Pope Francis wrote: “In contemplating the pierced heart of the Lord, who ‘took our infirmities and bore our diseases,’ we too are inspired to be more attentive to the sufferings and needs of others and confirmed in our efforts to share in his work of liberation as instruments for the spread of his love. As we meditate on Christ’s self-offering for the sake of all, we are naturally led to ask why we too should not be ready to give our lives for others.”
“This anniversary and consecration will be a great opportunity to promote the beautiful devotion to the Sacred Heart and to encourage the laity to offer their lives in service to God and their country.” – Archbishop Alexander K. Sample
At the Cathedral, we join with our brothers and sisters around the world to Pray, Reflect and Act. We will begin a Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on Wednesday, June 3. Check our website and social media to join each day in prayer. At the conclusion of daily Masses from then until June 11 we will recite the Prayer to the Sacred Heart.
On June 11, we will honor our Lord with a special Prayer Service beginning at 7:00pm. This service will take the place of Evening Prayer and Benediction. Confessions are still scheduled at 6:00pm.
Pray the Daily Novena Here.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us!
Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us!
