The Cathedral Concert Series: Join us for our 50th Season!

For half a century, St. Thomas More Cathedral has maintained a unique ministry of bringing the work of established concert artists to the community at large through an annual series of free concerts in the exquisite acoustical environment of the Cathedral. Join us in this milestone year! Cathedral Concerts is a self-supporting service dedicated to bringing the work of professional musicians to the Cathedral Community, and the DC area community-at-large.

We sponsor concerts ranging from organ recitals to choral concerts and instrumental programs. Dates are published in a season brochure. Parish and public attendance and your patronage are warmly invited.  Free and ample parking is provided onsite, including accessible spaces for the physically challenged.  A reception is held after each concert, where guests and performers are meet and interact.

BROADWAY CHAMBER PLAYERS Friday, Nov 9, 2018 8:00pm

Founded by Broadway musicians, Broadway Chamber Players (BCP) continues Broadway’s great tradition of live music, bringing extraordinary musicians from the pit to the stage. BCP has featured over 120 different Broadway musicians, composers, dancers and actors. Four of Broadway’s most sought after and versatile musicians will perform an exciting program of works by Gershwin, Shostakovich, Debussy and more!

SERVICE OF LESSONS AND CAROLS Sunday, Dec 9, 2018 7:30pm

The beauty of this traditional service is in its simplicity. The service holds its beginnings at Kings College Chapel, Cambridge, and has been celebrated throughout the world. The service contains seasonal scripture readings followed by choral and handbell carols retelling the story of salvation from the fall of Adam to the birth of the Christ Child. Come and join the Bishop of Arlington, Cathedral clergy, lay readers, combined Cathedral Choirs, in this cherished and prayerful Cathedral tradition.

OAKCREST CONCERT CHORUS Friday, Feb 8, 2019 8:00 PM

The Oakcrest Concert Chorus is a vocal ensemble of students in grades 9-12 and a pillar of the Oakcrest music program. The Oakcrest chorus has sung at the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast, performed with The McLean Orchestra, and at some of the most famous churches in Italy. On January 1, 2018, the chorus sang with the Sistine Chapel Choir at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. The Chorus will be joined by Oakcrest alumna, Grace Gilday, soprano, and the school’s private vocal instructor, Madelyn Salazar, mezzo soprano.

ANNIVERSARY CONCERT Friday, June 14, 2019 8:00pm

The Cathedral Choir of Saint Thomas More and the Arlington Diocesan Choir celebrate their 50th and 20th anniversaries in 2019. Join them for this festive concert at which they will perform a selection of choral works commissioned for these ensembles.  Dr. Mary Beth Bennett, a nationally acclaimed organist and composer, will be the guest artist for this reminiscent performance.
