First Communion Retreat / El Retiro de la Primera Comunión: Saturday, March 11, 2023, 8:45am – 3:30pm
This will be an opportunity for your child to focus on Jesus, the sacrament of Holy Communion, and prayer. All children who are preparing for First Communion must attend the retreat. Families are asked to arrive to the Cathedral by 8:45am, as the retreat will begin with Mass at 9:00am. Parents are invited and encouraged to stay for the Mass.
After Mass parents and family members will leave and the students will proceed to Burke Hall to begin the activities. Come pick up your child in the cafeteria at 3:30pm—please do not be late!
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! We need parent volunteers to help us with the retreat. All volunteers must be fully-compliant with the Diocesan Child Protection Program. If you are interested and available to assist with all or part of the day (breakfast, lunch, or help with a station) please contact the RE Office, at 703-525-1300 x26 or bpaczak@cathedralstm.org.
RETREAT FEE: There is a $25 Retreat Fee to help defer the cost of the food and materials for the Retreat. Please complete the Retreat Permission slip and return it with the $25 retreat fee to the Religious Education Office by March 1, 2023.
Esta será una oportunidad para que su hijo/a se concentre en Jesús, el Sacramento de la Santa Comunión y la oración. Todos los niños que se preparan para la Primera Comunión deben asistir al retiro. Se les pide a las familias llegar a la Catedral a las 8:45 de la mañana ya que el retiro comenzará con una Misa a las 9:00 am. Los padres están invitados a quedarse para la Misa.
Después de la Misa los padres y miembros de la familia se deben ir y los estudiantes se irán a Burke Hall para comenzar las actividades. Pueden recoger a su hijo/a en Burke Hall (el basement de la iglesia) a las 3:30 pm – por favor no llegue tarde!
SE NECESITAN VOLUNTARIOS! Necesitamos padres voluntarios para ayudarnos con el retiro. Todos los voluntarios deben ser completamente compatible con el Programa de Protección de la Infancia de la Diócesis. COSTO DEL RETIRO: Hay un cargo de $25 para ayudar a diferir el costo de los alimentos y materiales para el Retiro. Por favor complete el Formulario de Permiso y devuélvalo con la tarifa de $25 a la Oficina de Educación Religiosa antes del 1 de marzo, 2023.
