The Cathedral of Saint Thomas More News:

Synodal Listening Sessions

Dear Parishioners,

Every three years, Catholic bishops from around the world gather in Rome for a meeting called the General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, at which they discuss a matter of pastoral importance proposed to them by the Pope. For the 2023 Synod of Bishops, our Holy Father, Pope Francis, has chosen the theme of “synodality” itself: that is, how the Church is journeying together, and prayerfully reflecting together on its journey, so as to discern God’s will, and to pursue the pathways to which God calls us–towards deeper communion, fuller participation, and greater openness to fulfilling our mission in the world.

In preparation for the 2023 Synod of Bishops in Rome, Pope Francis has asked every local Church to undertake their own synodal phase of prayerful listening, dialogue, and discernment, on how the Church is journeying together and fulfilling our mission in the world. Bishop Burbidge has asked all our parishes and other local institutions to host synodal Listening Sessions, and every person may participate. We invite you to come to our Listening Session, which will take place on April 2, 2022 from 10:00 am – 11:30 am in Burke Hall.  We also encourage you to invite anyone you may know who has fallen away from the practice of the faith, and anyone who is spiritually or materially marginalized.
