English as a Second Language (ESL)
The English as a Second Language (ESL) Program provides basic English language and life skills instruction to parishioners whose native language is not English.
We glorify God by:
- Teaching adults and children to understand, speak, read, and write English
- Teaching about American culture and customs
This program is for everyone in need, young or old, rich or poor, for all races and creeds of the world, parishioner or non parishioner, Catholic or non-Catholic. Classes are free. Classes are taught at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Classes are held at the STM School on Sunday from 2pm to 4pm and Tuesday nights from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
Classes start the first Sunday after Labor day. Student registration is during the month of August after the Hispanic Mass.
Snow Days and Holidays: ESL classes are not held whenever the STM School is closed. Closing due to weather is advertised on television and radio stations and the STM School website. Holidays are listed in the STM School calendar.
Volunteers are Needed to Teach English
Classes Start in Fall 2018
Come join a team of energetic, creative, and happy people teaching English to our non-English-speaking parishioners. Have fun, be blessed, and learn some Spanish along the way.
If you enjoy working with people and changing their lives this is an opportunity to serve our Lord. You will be trained how to teach a foreign language to adults.
Volunteers are needed on Sunday afternoons from 2 pm to 4 pm, and/or on Tuesday from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. A commitment of one year is needed.
To join the program, please call the STM office (703-525-1300) and leave a message for Nanda or send an email.
